I give a number of lessons to all sorts of people each and every day. The most glaring weakness for all players, regardless of handicap level, is the inability to line up to their intended target. Here is a very simple, fast tip that will immediately pay dividends to your golf game.

1. Stand directly behind the golf ball facing your intended target.
2. Position your feet shoulder width apart.
3. Point your right hand directly at the target, thumb up, and palm facing left.
4. Position your left hand opposite your right hand, thumb up, and palm facing right. Keep your hands shoulder width apart.
5. Your right hand is the intended target line and the left hand is the where your feet, hips, and shoulders should point.
As you can see the left hand is pointing ten to twenty yards left of the intended target. That is the way it is supposed to be. You should not have your feet pointing at the target; they must be parallel left. Remember the railroad track theory. Pointing your feet toward the target makes your right hand (Target Line) point ten to twenty yards right of your target. Now you know why most golfers miss their shots to the right. Follow this tip on the driving range or in your practice rounds and then incorporate it into your everyday game.
