The summer edition of the highlights gives me the opportunity to give you a few tips to battle the harsh summer conditions that we encounter on the golf course.

Tip #1 Try to choke down on all of your shots. It is very important to keep the ball in the fairway. Choking down allows your swing to shorten, becoming more compact. A compact swing should hit the ball straighter than a long, loose swing.

Tip #2 When hitting short shots, grip the club very firm in your left hand. When striking the ball the club will have a tendency to twist. Keeping your left hand firm on the club will allow you to control the club.

Tip #3 On the putting green, position the ball farther forward in you stance. This allows the ball to begin to roll quicker and therefore allows the golf ball to follow its intended line.

The summer time in Central Florida is full of perils. If you put the above tips into play, you will enjoy better golf rounds. Remember to drink plenty of fluids and wear sunscreen and a hat each time you play.
