Here is an interesting tip that is worth repeating. I recently used this tip on my website www.bobschade.com and my blog www.blogspot.bobschade.com. I received many emails that said how helpful this tip was to their games. I know the Highlight’s sometimes hits a different audience than my website. Please use this tip carefully; I wouldn’t want you to lower your handicap too much. Ha! Ha!After a brief warm-up session on the driving range grab your driver. Start swinging the club back as normal, but count to three (3) as you reach the top of your backswing. This accomplishes a couple of things. First, you will complete your backswing which will allow you to hit longer, straighter shots. Secondly, by taking a three count going back you use less energy. This will help you store energy for the all-important forward swing. Think of it this way, if you use only 15% of your energy going back you will have 85% coming towards the golf ball. Wow, can you see the increase in distance!!!! Good luck and I hope that you will work to improve your game this winter.

This month’s tip is a distance tip. I know that golfers of all levels are looking for a quick way to increase your distance off the tee. Follow the procedure below and you will increase your distance and as a result score better.

1. Take your normal address position, except position the golf ball opposite your little toe on your left foot.
2. Next, pick up the toe of your right foot and slowly rotate it to the right so that is points behind you, parallel to the target line.
3. Take a few practice swings in this new position.
4. Hit the ball with a nice even tempo.
This drill will allow you to make a much bigger shoulder turn and more importantly when you start your swing forward you will be behind the golf ball. The combination of a bigger shoulder turn and staying behind the golf ball will always give you more club head speed and solid contact. Those two things are the only things you need to hit the ball longer. Good luck and good golfing!
